Welcome

Experienced Leadership

I am pleased to announce my candidacy for re-election as your Belmont Selectman.   Belmont is a great town, and, like other towns, we do face many challenges from increased strains on town and school services to the need for thoughtful residential and commercial development while preserving our green space.   These challenges require experienced leadership, in depth knowledge and skills across many areas - not just one or two issues.

For over 20 years, my wife, Allison Miele Rojas, NCIDQ, LEED AP, an interior architect, and I have lived in Belmont.   We raised our two children, both graduates of Belmont High School:  our son, Samuel, a senior at St. Michael's College;  and our daughter Lucy, a sophomore at the University of Hartford.   Our pug named Smudge rounds out our family.

I am a professional landscape architect and, along with my wife, Allison, we are the owners of Rojas Design, Inc., an architectural firm.   I have a Master of Landscape Architecture from Harvard University;  studied Real Estate Development & Management at the Harvard Business School;  a Bachelor of Media Arts (Honorary) from the Massachusetts Communication College;  and, a Bachelor of Science from the City College of New York School of Architecture.

My vast experience with Belmont includes:   Belmont Selectman from 2012 to present (Chair since April 2014);   Warrant Committee, member;   Community Preservation Committee (CPA), member;   Capital Endowment Committee, member;   Planning Board, (2006-2012), Vice Chair (2010-2012);   Benton Branch Library Re-Use Committee (2009-2010);   Police Station Feasibility Committee, (2007-2008);    Capital Projects Overview Committee (2007-2009);   Harvard Lawn Fire Station Re-Use Committee, Chairman (2006-2007);   Shade Tree Committee, (2005-2012);   as well as, Coach for Belmont Youth Basketball and Baseball teams.

Allison and I have donated professional design services to the Butler School Playground, the Belmont High School Language Lab, and the Winn Brook School Basketball Courts, among other worthy public causes.   I initiated and advocated for the Grove Street Playground Master Plan study, which is currently underway.

Belmont is a great town, and, like other towns, we do face many challenges which require experienced leadership, in depth knowledge and skills across many areas - not just one or two issues.   I have the experience, proven leadership, demonstrated commitment and knowledge of the Town, and I ask for your vote on
Tuesday, April 7, 2015.   Thank you
.
